Ecebs provide a range of payment solutions for the issuers of smartcards.
These include electronic purses, where cash or tokens for buying
goods and services are held on the smartcard, and Chip and PIN
(or EMV) payment smartcards increasingly being used for credit
and debit card purchases.
Chip and PIN / EMV
Credit card fraud is sharply on the rise. The statistics are particularly
dramatic for remote transactions such as telephone sales and even worse
on the Internet. At the same time, fear of fraud remains a barrier to
e-commerce in the minds of consumers.
Conventional magnetic stripe card technology is insufficient to protect
consumers, merchants and banks against fraud. Magnetic stripe cards are
too easily counterfeited and offer no cryptographic capabilities for transaction
authentication. Smartcards, which contain an on-board tamper-resistant
processor and secure storage for sensitive information, are increasingly
replacing magnetic stripe cards for debit and credit payment systems to
reduce the risk of fraud.

Ecebs are leading independent providers of EMV solutions engineered to
the card issuer's specific requirements. Our solution range includes EMV
card applications supported by their own card operating system and EMV
payment accepting software for virtual as well as physical world devices.

The EMV standard for smartcard applications has been created by the leading
card associations (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) to ensure interoperability
among smartcard payment systems. The card associations have made the transition
to smartcards a strategic priority and EMV cards are now being rolled
out in many countries.

Ecebs have developed one of the worlds smallest implementations of a dual
brand EMV with multi function operating system in 18k of code which has
been certified by both Visa and Mastercard on behalf of blue chip client.
Electronic Cash and Purses

Ecebs can also provide electronic cash or token systems that can be used
where cash is cumbersome, insecure, or impractical. Typical examples are
payment for low-value purchases on the Internet or in campus environments
such as schools, colleges, military bases, theme parks or large office
complexes.

Payment applications are ideally suited to multi-function smartcards.
Additional applications, such as loyalty programmes, can complement the
core payment function to create a complete offering that is more attractive
to the user than the individual parts. Multifunction packages differentiate
the card issuer from competitors.

As technology advances, the cost of manufacturing, issuing and deploying
multifunction payment smartcards continues to fall. Find out how multifunction
EMV payment cards can benefit your company or organisation. Contact: enquiries@ecebs.com.
