February 2005 - Universal Smart Cards & Ecebs Announce Agreement: Leading players cooperate to deliver ITSO and Multefile

Ecebs and Universal Smart Cards Limited (USC) are delighted to announce that they have signed an agreement that will enable card issuers who wish to implement ITSO-based schemes and those that wish to implement Multefile to procure the cards they require in an efficient and cost effective manner.

There is a growing demand for cards that are ITSO certified. The Agreement allows USC to build upon its reputation for cost-effective, speedy delivery of quality products and services by harnessing Ecebs' considerable ITSO expertise. Ecebs are the providers of the ITSO ISAM, a core component of the ITSO scheme.

Multefile is Ecebs' core product; smartcard middleware that allows post-issuance modification of applications, data, and security environments both on-card and in terminals and servers. This enables card issuers to directly manage their card products and tailor the services exactly to the developing needs of the cardholders. Elements of Multefile are in use in the ITSO Security Management Service (ISMS) being provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland to ITSO.

Two ITSO-certified products are available immediately: a 4k Mifare card (ITSO C-00009), and a JCOP30 card with Multefile and FVC2 Secure Messaging (ITSO C-00006).
