June 2005 - CIPFA and Priority Outcomes
Ecebs exhibited at the CIPFA Conference and Exhibition held at
the G Mex centre in Manchester on June 14-16 2005.
The Ecebs stand was a popular attraction during the event with several
hundred visitors showing interest in smartcard technology. David Braddock,
Ecebs Managing Director, commented "The most common discussion topic
was the imminent use of smartcards in delivering specific priority
outcomes for local authorities". Central Government through the ODPM
has established a set of e-government priority outcomes for each local
authority. Accordingly it is expected that each local authority will
deliver these priority outcomes within the next twelve months as part
of its e-government investment programme.
"The advantages of Ecebs Multefile technology as a cost effective
and robust method of delivering these priority outcomes was evident"
he continued, "In addition, delivery channels such as the BT Multimedia
kiosk, where Ecebs and BT co-operate, showed just how simple and practical
smartcard implementations have now become."
Our picture shows Rachel Tuffney of the Times Newspaper, assisted
by Paul Fury of BT, making the draw for the Ecebs iPOD raffle. The
winner was Caroline Mikardo of the Improvement and Development Agency.
