Torus Building - the Green route to Success
Ecebs Limited, are fast approaching the first anniversary of life
in our new office space in the carbon friendly Torus Building, located
within the Scottish Enterprise Technology Park in East Kilbride.
Named after a mathematical term for a geometric pattern with a hole
in the middle, the building was designed to be as eco-friendly as
possible and is one of the first private office buildings in Scotland
built to the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental
Assessment Method) standards. This has been achieved by avoiding
air conditioning through natural ventilation, thermal mass and solar
shading, by generating electricity on site through a 25 metre high
wind turbine, by energy efficient construction, building services
and controls, by recycling building materials, by minimising waste
and by providing good access to public transport and facilities for
cyclists.
The building also features a large glass covered central
atrium which helps aid ventilation and floods the surrounding office
space with natural daylight, thus reducing the risk of ‘sick
office syndrome’.
David Braddock, Managing Director of Ecebs commented, “Our
staff benefit from the building’s many environmentally friendly
features and we are all delighted with the move. We are truly pleased
to have relocated our principle office and operations to the Torus
Building. It’s innovative design provides an environment that
matches our innovation driven culture and we expect to continue to
create great things here.”
