Ecebs and Aconite partner to deliver multi function transit and payments smart cards
Ecebs have also partnered with Aconite, who are a leading provider of software and consulting services for managing business applications on chips in smart cards, tokens or mobiles. Together we are developing and delivering a smart card solution that will enable integrated multi-modal transport within an ITSO ticketing environment. This solution also offers the ability to have multiple applications on one card including e-purse in a retail environment and integration with thrid party legacy systems. This will combine payment and transport applications based on international standards on one highly secure smart card.
The payment application will be based on global EMV specifications (chip and pin) while the transport application will be based on the ITSO specifictaion. Smart card products developed and managed by this new solution could, therefore, be processed by any terminal complying with the ITSO and/or EMV specifictaions.This dramatically increases accessability and flexibility in a wide variety of services.
So what does this mean for the end user?
It means they can top up their money using a variety of methods, access public transport with their smart card, withdraw funds from an ATM just like a bank card, ease their payment experience while having piece of mind that their money will be secure.
Pre - Paid Cards
There has been a rapid increase in the number of pre-paid debit and credit cards in use. The convenience of such smartcards can be further enhanced by the addition of multi-application capability to help to further differentiate pre-paid products and services.
